👟 Types of Rehearsals:
1. Staging Rehearsals – Tuesday & Wednesday (afternoon)
20-minute sessions to practice spacing and transitions on stage. These are short, but very important
Wear dance clothes and shoes, no costumes
2. Technical Rehearsal – Wednesday (6:15-8:30pm)
Dancers wear costumes and have hair up, but makeup is not necessary. Review your costume info sheet for specifics!
We run the show in order and work out the bugs of adding lights, music, and costumes
Dancers will sit in the audience and watch the show in full
Dancers in Dance Adventures (Monday) and Jazz 1-3 can arrange for pickup at 7:30. Saturday Dance Adventures class does not attend this rehearsal.
3. Dress Rehearsal – Thursday (6:15-8:30pm)
Full performance attire: costume, hair, and makeup
Dancers stay in assigned dressing rooms when not on stage
Photos and video will be taken
Dancers in Dance Adventures (Saturday) will get to watch the show from the audience and can arrange for pickup at 7:30. Monday Dance Adventures class does not attend this rehearsal.
🎉 Recital Performances – Friday & Saturday
Dancers arrive in costume, sign in, and go directly to their assigned dressing rooms.
They will remain backstage for the duration of the show (estimated running time of the show is 85 minutes including a 15 minute intermission)
✅ Recital Checklist
Please ensure you/your dancer has:
🔖 Everything labeled (shoes, clothes, accessories)
🎧 Quiet backstage activities (books, puzzles, cards – no valuables or noisy items)
💧 Water - it is the only beverage allowed backstage and in dressing rooms
🥪 Snacks (optional) (if you do need a snack, it cannot contain nuts or fish/shellfish. Please do not bring messy food like popcorn or food that can stain faces/costumes like candy).
👗 All costume pieces (check your info sheet!)
💍 No additional jewelry / accessories, nail polish, visible underwear/straps
💗 A positive and welcoming attitude (cheer on other dancers and make sure no one is left out of dressing room fun!)
🎭 And, Remember to return any rented costumes after the show
🧥 Dressing Room Info
Dressing rooms are located backstage and under the stage. Dancers stay in their assigned dressing rooms during the dress rehearsal and shows.
Dancers are grouped by age and dancers under 12 have direct adult supervision at all times and a mix of organized activities and independent time throughout the evenings.
Washrooms are available nearby all dressing rooms
Dancers with costume changes: please arrive in your first costume (see the bottom of this page for the show running order), and bring others in a garment or tote bag. A base layer (like a body tight or body liner) is recommended for easy, modest changes in the dressing rooms or washrooms. Let us know as soon as possible if you/your dancer will need help with a costume change.
📸 Photo / Video
A&CC and CBDH policies state that there is no photography or video during the live performance (distracting for dancers! distracting for fellow audience members! copyright and privacy issues!) We will have photos and video of the show that will be shared with each performer.
